The Wisdom In Having No Wisdom

Even when trying to deny wisdom, the Sh*t My Brother Told Me still hits the mark!  I received the below today in response to the creation of this blog.

"But I fear I won't be able to provide much content--as I think I mentioned in the past, about the only wisdom I have is the realization that what I once thought I had, I didn't. If only you'd started your blog back when I knew it all."

I must admit, there was a day when my brother ALWAYS had an "answer" for ANY question...and dang it, most of the time they were correct.  The rest of the time you just hoped you didn't make any major decisions based on his BS!

It's so simple but yet so hard...admitting when we are wrong.  We have only to gain by doing so.

I received an email from my oldest brother, Reg, earlier today asking me how my re-entry into the tech industry was going along with some sage advice.  Reg is probably one of the smartest guys you'll ever meet, so I thought I would share some of his wisdom and hopefully add a bit of my own from time to time.  Here goes…

"How're things going with your career development plan?  Feel like you're making progress, or like you're stuck?  Remember, feelings don't count--getting shit done does.  So even if you feel like it's hopeless, put your head down and pull.  Only evaluate progress at set periods--maybe once a month.  Never change course prior to an evaluation date, regardless of how you feel."
